For our latest summer dress design, we imagined creating something easy and smart you would wear to work, but also dreamy enough to bring along on your holiday to wear with sandals and a panama hat.
This silhouette is inspired by the feminine silhouettes of vintage dresses from the 20’s. We also experimented with bias-cut panels, now an uncommon element in contemporary clothing due to the complexity in construction. We put our own modern spin by crafting this piece out of a beautiful men’s twill shirting fabric.
The dress is made of yarn-dyed twill cotton from the British shirting label Thomas Mason. The back panels of the dress are cut on the bias and matched at the seam, creating a flattering and luxurious silhouette. The skirt is voluminous and dips towards the back for a dramatic effect.
