A Day On The Lane: Craft, Connection & Creativity

What a joy it was to be part of A Day On The Lane in Marylebone! The street was buzzing with music, food, and conversation, and we loved being right in the middle of it. PLATFORM Store joined in with two workshops: a visible mending session with Valentina Karelas and a hand knitting introduction with Gunda Hafner.

Valentina Karelas hosted a visible mending session where people discovered how simple stitches and patches can bring new life to much-loved garments. It wasn’t about perfection; it was about experimenting, learning, and enjoying the process. One attendee, Silvia, even wrote to say how proud she was of finishing her first embroidery piece at home afterwards. She’s already bought more thread and a hoop to keep going, which is such a testament to the skill of our designers and their ability to inspire others.

Gunda Hafner ran a relaxed introduction to hand knitting. With yarn in hand and plenty of laughs along the way, beginners picked up the basics and got a feel for the rhythm of the craft. It was less about polished results and more about giving it a go, enjoying the moment, and finding joy in making something from scratch.

At PLATFORM, we believe in the power of simple craft to bring people together and to remind us of the satisfaction that comes from creating with our own hands.

Thank you to our workshop participants and all the visitors that stopped in to PLATFORM for a Day on the Lane. Our designers loved being able to share their stories with you and we’re excited to keep offering moments like this, accessible, fun, and always rooted in community.
